I have vacationed in Wyoming not once, but TWICE within the past year! Therefore, it is safe to say that I have the inside scoop on the best things to do in Jackson Hole, the one-of-a-kind town widely known for its Old Western character and rustic flair. Here you will find my Top 5 Activities to do in Jackson Hole.
1. Teton Village Horseback Riding
Revel in the scenic mountain views on an exhilarating trail ride that climbs up into the Tetons with a breathtaking landscape of Snake River ranch, Teton Mountain Resort, and Jackson Hole below. You certainly do not need to be an expert rider to take part in this horseback adventure (ages 6 and up can participate)- as this tour is conducted by a skilled trail guide! On my journey through the Teton Valley, I was blown away by enchanting visions of snowcapped mountains, lush foliage, and gorgeous meadows. While your friendly trail guide points out notable sights and landmarks, expect to encounter all sorts of wildlife during the rustic voyage up the mountain. Wearing your finest cowboy boots and hat for a classic photo op is recommended, but not required!

2. Ferry to Jenny Lake and Hidden Falls
Flowing with crystal water that is among the clearest in the world, Jenny Lake is nothing short of picture-perfect. Soak in the open air and enjoy a 12-minute boat ride to Jenny Lake Trail, where you will begin your half-mile hike to the illustrious Hidden Falls. Personally, I find the views on the ferry expedition to be nearly as sensational as those of your final destination. One of the most prominent trails in Grand Teton National Park, the hike to Hidden Falls allows for a stunning outlook of Jenny Lake and Jackson Hole. Located on Cascade Creek, Hidden Falls is a magnificent waterfall that soars over one hundred feet high! Our oarsman informed us that visitors have spotted bears, elk, and moose on their trek, but luckily for me I only came upon one lone “marmot,” which I’d mistaken for a beaver! Nonetheless, bring bear spray just in case…
3. Float the Snake River in Grand Teton National Park
In all honesty, floating down the Snake River was the favorite of my endeavors in Jackson Hole, and I can guarantee that I will do it again. Imagine a lazy river ride where you remain completely dry and do not have to lift a finger; all while absorbing the jaw-dropping scenery of the Grand Tetons! The float is massive, seating up to a dozen passengers, making for an extremely spacious and comfortable excursion. Rather than whitewater rafting against powerful rapids, this is an excellent alternative for scaredy cats (like me) who prefer calm waters with minimal risk of tumbling into an icy river. During my passage over this natural oasis, I observed bald eagles, moose, bears, and other small critters from a safe distance on the float. Your trip will typically last around 2 hours and cover the 10-mile radius of Snake River in Grand Teton National Park from Deadman’s Bar to Moose Village. Be sure to bring sunscreen, water, snacks, and binoculars to ensure you have a seamless and relaxing trip.
4. Jackson Hole Aerial Tram and Gondola Rides

Have you ever traveled to the “Top of the World” for a waffle? Well in under 15 minutes, the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram soars over 4,000 feet, taking you up to the legendary Corbet’s Cabin… home of Wyoming’s world-famous gourmet waffles! While savoring a delicious breakfast, relish the summit’s astonishing 360-degree views of Jackson Hole and the Grand Tetons. You are at a high enough elevation to enjoy a snowball fight or hike up the powdery hills to discover new vantage points. I personally chose to sip a mimosa, sit back, and bask in Jackson Hole’s natural splendor- the choice is yours! To conclude your day at the mountains, ride the Bridger Gondola to Piste Mountain Bistro and experience the sunset with dinner and drinks.
5. Explore Downtown and the Jackson Hole Rodeo

Stroll downtown through Jackson Hole’s “Town Square” and snag a photo underneath the famous elk-antler arches at each corner of the park before you hit the Jackson Hole Rodeo! Bull and bronco riding, roping events, and other lively competitions are featured in an outdoor arena at this historical cowboy exhibition. I felt as if I stepped through a time machine back to the Wild West as I viewed cowboys and cowgirls battle it out in various rodeo activities. Watching the professional riders inspired many to try their hand on the mechanical bull, amusing spectators throughout the country-themed venue. Conveniently located in the heart of central Jackson Hole, the rodeo is the perfect pregame for a night out on the town. The most renowned Wyoming watering hole, Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, is a must-see Jackson Hole destination. Live music, dancing, and American fare are all served up at this wild country saloon.
